Iam located 45 minutes north of Sacramento, California and would like to know what color and % cloth to use for shade on my patch. First time grower and have two plants growing a 925 Kibbe and a 1308 Gibson2024. looking for big orange. It has been 100 degrees for the last three days. Most of the summer will be 90-105. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you. Ed Hebert

Hey, Ed!
I do not use it myself but to alleviate any delay in finding out since it may be slow to get an answer nowadays,
Site Search (Top-right of screen):
shade cloth
and you'll see and read what others have done in the past with, about and for it. Seems that black 30% is the going rate, lol. NOT an expert nor a Heavy Hitter but there is the answer(s) for now. Try to make it so that it's retractable, like able to be dragged over rounded structures to smoothly get it above the plants and 'in-place' or, well, there are many ways I saw that had me saying 'Whoaaa... such ingenuity.' Good luck with more responses and your season throughout---eric gerry

I got 8 years out of Shans 30% white. Think we hit 114* a few years back with no problems. Well temp is a problem but its more about the sun's intensity. Looking to replace it but doesn't look like Amazon carries it anymore.

I use 30% black. I keep a thermometer underneath to monitor and it helps without a doubt. I'm north of Atlanta, G.A and we get the same kind of heat. I've installed misters on a timer which go off every 20 minutes for about 45 seconds when it's that hot. It creates a bit of a micro-climate which is quite a bit cooler. The heat is rough, good luck

Don’t use it myself but I heard good things about 30% black also to put mulch on the soil to cool it I heard
. I guess to shade it. Here it’s the opposite I’m battling the COLD never exceeds 95.
